Amos: Holy Disorder
In this series we look at the writings of Amos, a poor subsistence farmer who hears the cries of the oppressed and speaks truth to those who are benefiting from the unjust systems. We are going to use the lens of order - disorder - and reorder to help us understand how Amos draws the people of Israel (and us!) toward a life which is more just, more merciful, and to a greater closeness with God.
Seeing & Unseeing in the Gospel of John
In John’s Gospel and in our own lives, recognizing who Jesus is and what he is doing requires a particular kind of seeing and unseeing. Starting in January, we will journey alongside many in the Gospel of John who do not truly “see” Jesus at first–Nicodemus, the Samaritan woman, Mary, Thomas and others all misapprehend Jesus in their own way, but eventually come to a new way of seeing him.
